Ensemble E8 DevKit

Get started with the Ensemble E8 DevKit

The Ensemble E8 DevKit (DK-E8) is a cost-effective, single-board solution that brings out all signals on the device to easily access pins for power and performance profiling, prototyping, and more. The DevKit can be configured to operate as your choice of the E4, E6, or E8 series MCU devices in the Ensemble family, with superset E8 series device having two Cortex-M55 CPU cores, two Ethos-U55 + one Ethos-U85 neural network processors cores, and two Cortex-A32 MPU cores.

Ensemble E8 DevKit (DK-E8) User Guide

(v1.0) This user guide shows how to configure and power up your Ensemble E8 DevKit so you are ready to do application development. It also shows how to update the firmware in your Alif chip, how to download the compatible VS Code project template, and shows optional UART connections to the development kit.

Alif Security Toolkit

Quick Start Guide (v3.2) shows how to install the Alif Security Toolkit (SETOOLS) for Ensemble and Balletto devices and shows some common commands used during application development.

STOP: Users of DK-B1 kits with A3 revision silicon should NOT update to version 1.109.00! Please reference the Documentation Archive Library for previous versions.

NOTE: Beginning with the V1.107.00 release and onwards, the default tools configuration for the target device is the Ensemble E8 device used on the Ensemble E8 DevKit. If you are using any other kit or your own board, you will need to select the correct target device. See Section 4 of the latest Alif Security Toolkit Quick Start Guide for details on different ways to do this.

Alif Security Toolkit: (v1.110.00) for use with the Ensemble and Balletto devices or evaluation kits. After downloading your Toolkit, be sure to update your board to the same version by running the updateSystemPackage utility.

Alif SE Host Services API Archive

(v1.110.00) This archive contains source code for the Alif SE Host Services API software release.

Linux APSS User Guide

(v2.0.0) This User Guide shows how to work with the new v2.0.0 release for Ensemble E8 devices, including how to use pre-built images to program a demo distribution of Linux into the on-chip MRAM or into the off-chip OSPI flash memory on the Ensemble E8 DevKit (DK-E8). This release includes HyperRAM support for user programs.

Linux Pre-Built Images Archive

(v2.0.0 )This archive contains the pre-built images to load the Linux APSS distribution v2.0.0 on the Ensemble E8 DevKit (DK-E8).

APSS Linux Utilities

Flash-Tool utility PC application for programming the Linux images to OSPI Flash on the Ensemble E8 DevKit (DK-E8).

Ensemble VS Code Project Template

This VS Code project template is for use with Ensemble devices. NOTE: After cloning this template file to a project folder, open up a terminal window in that folder and execute the command “git submodule update -–init”. This will load the board library sub-module.

Ensemble E4, E6, E8 Differences From E1, E3, E5, E7 v1.0

(v1.0) This document describes the functional difference between the E4, E6 and E8 devices and the existing E1, E3, E5, and E7 devices. The Ensemble E4, E6, and E8 devices have some functional differences compared to the E1, E3, E5, and E7 devices. This document outlines the items that a designer should be aware of when doing a design for the E4, E6, or E8 devices, and which ones are taken care of when using the Alif-provided Device Family Pack (DFP) drivers.

Power Measurement on the Ensemble E8 DevKit

(v1.0) This app note describes the board modifications necessary for measuring power on the DK-E8 DevKit and what power domains can be measured.

CMSIS DFP 2.0 Migration Guide Application Note

(v1.0) Alif Semiconductor CMSIS DFP 2.0.0 is an update from the previous 1.3.x version to satisfy the requirements of reorganizing the pack to be compliant with ARM CMSIS latest updates. 2.0.0 does not change any driver APIs, but does add and/or modify a few things that will need existing projects to be updated. Primarily, support for multiple SKUs of Alif Semiconductor devices, support for Board Support as per new ARM CMSIS requirements, addition of standard ARM CMSIS GPIO and other general updates, including support for new Alif Semiconductor devices, are part of this release. This migration guide provides recommendations to users on how to address these changes for current and future designs.
